Meet THE NEW Commander: Malcolm Glasgow

A new year has begun and the challenges are very similar to previous years, as many changes have been made and many more are to come. The Post has grown tremendously over the past 5 years, thanks to the continued support of the membership committee and the former First Vice Commander, Bob Donahue, who was instrumental in gaining the support necessary to accomplish the post's goals. Although the Post has reached an all-time high over the previous year, it is not time to stop, as we all know that attrition will continue to take it's toll, and new members are needed to continue the climb to excellence.

Over the past year, we have gained over 100 new members and hopefully, will be able to persuade them all to stay with this ever-growing post. Not only do we always need members, they are essential to the efforts of the American Legion in persuading our legislators, thru numbers in membership, to pass the legislation needed for support of the veterans of all our military services. Without the support of those members, many benefits already earned could be lost, so the fight is a continuing one. We need new legislation to help the new wave of military who have been called upon to again fight for our nation, and those who return home need all the support they can get. It is with ever-increasing pride that the American Legion will do all in it's capability to provide all the support that we can.

While we continue our support for those returning home, we must never forget the toll that war takes, and remember those who left us and did not return. Our goal is to keep those who did not return in our thoughts and to support their families throughout their time of need. The Post 797 Honor Guard is ever available to assist in the dedication of those veterans.
