Support the Gahanna American Legion

The Gahanna American Legion Post in your community is continually doing it's best to become involved in community affairs and we need the support of those in the community and elsewhere, if so inclined, to help us to maintain this involvement in the community. 

While the American Legion is well-known for it's support of Legion Baseball, Buckeye Boys/Girls State, the annual Oratorical Contest, our combined Legion-VFW Honor Guard, and the many contributions we make to school activities and some other small organizations, we are ignored by those large organizations who donate resources to non-profits such as ours so we have the ability to do a lot more in the way of support within our community. 

You should know that there are a good many Veterans organizations throughout the country, and here locally, that are becoming less self-sufficient every month, and there are many closing their doors permanently, leaving their members to search for Posts further away than they would like to travel.  This could become a reality here locally if membership in the Gahanna VFW Post keeps declining, or members cannot afford to pay their annual dues.  If that happens, the service that is provided by the VFW will be lost to the community, and the Legion may not be able to pick it up without a Post home to work from. 

The Gahanna American Legion has asked the public in the past to help us obtain a Post home of our own with very little success, so, even knowing that times are harder than in the past, we are asking once again if those in our community, and those in surrounding areas also, would commit to helping the Legion raise the funds to build or purchase a building that can be used for a Veterans Post here in Gahanna.  Besides monetary donations, keep in mind that the Gahanna Legion is a member of Ormita, making us a gift-in-kind donatee, where large items donated can qualify for fair value deductions from your income tax when donated to a nonprofit such as the American Legion.  Even if we cannot use the item, Ormita can find someone to exchange it for funds or something the Legion can use or sell to obtain funds.

The Gahanna American Legion has a Paypal site set up where anyone can donate to our building fund, and that fund is maintained separately until our goal is reached.  We are constantly watching for a location with the least cost that will accomodate our organization.  Please consider donating to this cause by visiting us via Paypal.  You do not have to be a member to use Paypal.

Another alternative to donate to us is by visiting the link below and making your donation there.  This is a fundraising organization and they collect a small fee to help us, but they offer many alternative ways to donate as well.
