COMMUNITY SUPPORT

The Gahanna Post of the American Legion was founded in 2002, with Gahanna veterans of various military backgrounds coming together to form a unit that started  with 26 veterans.  Since then, we have grown to a present 338 members, having been joined by veterans from other communities, who, having a dedication to serving their country and community, have put their efforts towards serving the community of Gahanna by providing High School students the opprtunity to play American Legion Baseball, to participate in the Oratorical Contests conducted annually, to attend the Buckeye Boys & Girls State Programs conducted annually, and to take the Americanism & Govenment Tests provided by the state to see if our school programs are teaching them what they need to know about our government.

The Gahanna Post has participated in countless events within the community, helping out wherever and whenever they have the opportunity, and the Post Honor Guard has provided it's support for veterans services throughout the entire Central Ohio area.  All these things have been carried out by an organization having no home base.  The Gahanna Post has met for 8 years at the leisure of VFW Post 4719, to whom we owe our endless gratitude.

But, we can not continue to depend upon the VFW to house us as we grow.  The Legion needs a Post home, and we would appreciate the help of the community which we serve to aid us in that quest.  Whether it be  a vacant home, business, or vacant building, we would be willing to consider using it for our place from which to work.  Since we are a non-profit organization, there would have to be a way to utilize the property at no cost to us other than the utilities and insurance, and the right to carry out all activities in which the Amedrican Legion is active.  If there are any such locations here in the Gahanna area, please contact the American Legion using the contact page on this web site.  We can do an even better job for the community if we have our own place from which to work.

Anyone in the community can help our mission by donating to the Post.  You can designate which area your money is used simply by stating that on the donation form at Paypal.  All you need to do is click on the word DONATE, and you will be taken to the Paypal link where you can indicate your amount and designation.  Paypay will electronically send you a receipt of your donation.  REMEMBER!!  You do not need a Paypal account to use Paypal, merely a checking account, credit card, or another online account from which to transfer your donation.  Thank you for your support of the Gahanna American Legion.
