Veterans comprise approximately 30 percent of all mesothelioma diagnoses due to asbestos-contaminated products that were used by the military, primarily by the Navy, from the 1930s through the 1970s. Pleural mesothelioma can be treated with surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT
The Gahanna Post of the American Legion was founded in 2002, with Gahanna veterans of various military backgrounds coming together to form a unit that started with 26 veterans. Since then, we have grown to a present 338 members, having been joined by veterans from other communities, who, having a dedication to serving their country and community, have put their efforts towards serving the community of Gahanna by providing High School students the opprtunity to play American Legion Baseball, to participate in the Oratorical Contests conducted annually, to attend the Buckeye

If you cannot donate, please come anyway as we will need volunteers to serve the refreshments to those attending the drive. We expect a very large turnout, but we need all we can get.

All members who can attend are asked to come to this meeting to help the Post celebrate the 91st Birthday of the American Legion. There will be cake and refreshments immediately following the meeting.

Members of the VFW are requested to attend the meeting this month as there are Officer positions that need to be filled due to loss of Commander, and other post officer positions.

Every Sunday from 9am to 11am the VFW serves breakfast at the Post. The menu varies with the cost, but the prices are very reasonable. Plus, all the coffee you can drink and a chance to meet fellow Post members as well as VFW members.
